Black Hole Doom

Are we on each other's radar
Did we meet each other's eyes
In a glance beyond the moment
Where nobody ever tries
Can we fly beneath the radar
Can we ride along the stars
Leave the planets' lights behind us
Till we don't know where we are
Can we believe it
Are we human after all
Let emotion take the moment
While we're tearing down the wall
Can we lift off from the nightmare
Pass above what holds us down
Turn the astral tunnel sideways
Turn the black hole doom around
We could coast behind the comet
Orbit round the missing link
While the robot makes us breakfast
And wonders what it's like to think
We could wish upon a black hole
That it could suck away the night
Send the dark to new dimensions
Leave us flying in the light
Of the black hole doom
Is there room for any more here
Or is only two a crowd
Far away from all the watchers
Who's to say it's not allowed
And the radar searches silent
Contact made but not with you
In the night ships pass unknowing
Opportunities so few
Sound is pointless in a vacuum
Still I'm screaming from the heart
Victory and loss entwining
Never ends what doesn't start
Have we grown too far complacent
Is there a stranger in the room
Are we flying in a straight line
Straight toward the black hole doom
